General information [contribute]

James Wong (July 2, 2009):Vector Research was a small company producing a line of integrated amplifiers and cassette tape decks, and probably some other audio electronics as well. They were based in Chatsworth, California. Unfortunately, they went out of business in the mid-late 1980's.

Ron (September 15, 2009): Vector Research offered a full line of electronics, including receivers, cassette decks, turntables, and more. Earlier products were made by Crown Japan (no relation to Crown USA), who was largely a manufacturer of inexpensive portable radios. Later models were made by the same company who made Rotel. Vector Research was positioned as competition for Harman Kardon, NAD, Luxman, etc. and emphasized the use of discrete amplification circuitry and other "audiophile" design characteristics. The company also sold cheap portable electronics for a short time under the Carrera name.
