History[contribute]

PMC web site (December 2003): The Beginning PMC are one of the very few companies making monitors today who can truly claim a professional heritage. Founded in 1990, the imperative to create came from the desire felt by Peter Thomas and Adrian Loader to design far better speakers than those available anywhere on the market. At that time Peter was senior technical manager for engineering support at the BBC and Adrian was senior engineering manager of FWO Bauch Limited.

Through their roles both parties had a close relationship with the broadcast and recording professional and understood their requirements for monitoring. With the combination of drive and, knowledge and a life-long passion for music it lead to the production of PMC's first product - the BB5 - an active main studio monitor with performance completely in keeping with its imposing appearance.

The first sale of this monitor, to the BBC's prestigious Maida Vale music studio, resulted in the creation of PMC as a company. Hot on the heels of the BBC sale came quantity orders from world class studios such as Metropolis and Townhouse in London, Imajica in Japan, Electric City in Belgium, Nautilus in Italy and the list goes on. PMC now reigns supreme throughout the top UK mastering houses and much of the rest of the professional world.
