General information [contribute]

MAJ Electronic web site (Febuary 10, 2010): MAJ Electronic was founded in 1974 by Michael and Jane Ameson, to service, repair, design and manufacture amplification and associated equipment within the professional music industry. A woodwork department was set up in 1980 to satisfy the need for more and more cabinets. Case and flight case production, an offshoot of this move, began in 1983. So off we went...

In 1990 old friends Laney Electronics acquired the HH Electronic company of Cambridge and invited Michael to purchase the obsolete stock of this company, and look after the well being of the old HH models. This we did, and still do today. We have continued production of necessary popular replacement pcb's and cosmetic spares for these units, and still produce in house replacement diaphragm assemblies for the CD400/500 compression driver. We NO longer produce the HF200/300 diaphragm assemblies. We provide OFFICIAL worldwide backup, in the form of spares service and technical information, for obsolete Laney and HH products. Many of the original diagrams have been redrawn (for clarity) by Michael.

Here in 2010, MAJ Electronic still have a small but established range of high quality amplification products, which have stood the test of time and continue to sell well despite the onslaught of imported equipment. We also continue to offer our repair service, and supply spares and service info for HH/Laney and other early British amplification products.

We no longer manufacture cases, flight cases, or basic/mainstream empty speaker cabinets. The only loudspeaker cabinets we now make are for our own or high end guitar/bass use, and are generally to customer specifications. They are built from best or specified materials, sizes to order, with choice of finishes. All bespoke and I'm afraid they are NOT cheap.
