History[contribute]

Peter Dening (November 24, 2009): The factory was owned by Harman Audio. purchased in 1987 and they closed the speaker side in 1999. Between 1999 and 2002 Harman stopped making all parts for the Audio hi fi industry and sold of most of the speaker manufacturing plant. This plant was purchased by ACE. The owner of this company was an employee a long time ago and then set up his own manufacturing facility making speaker component parts and supplying to the Audax factory. This included speaker cones, surrounds, domes etc all for the Audio industry. Eventually the owner Mr Schbon ( not clear how you spell his name) managed to negoiate with Harman to purchase the Audax name.

The Audax speakers produced today are made at the ACE facitilty not the old Audax in Chauteu- Do - Loir.

The Old Audax company owned by Harman continued on the site just making for Automotive Peoguot / Citroen who's manufaturing plants were located close to the Audax factory and ceased making speakers about 2 years ago. They lost the contract with Peogueot and now only make some electronic assembly's. All the automatic speaker lines were distributed amongst the group.

The old Audax facility shut it doors on speakers 2 years ago. The UK facility closed in 1999 and the US facility in 1998.

The new Audax name as I said continues which is good having purchased a lot of the tooling and already making a lot of the component parts in house anyway.
