The Acoustat 6 is an electrostatic speaker. It is part of the Mk-121 series. It was manufactured from 1982 to 1988. In 1982 its price was $3750.
Robert Sabelis (december 2000): Their biggest panels where called the "professional series" and there where two models: Model 6 and Model 8 (yeah that's two model 2 + 2 "glued" together) . They were never designated as 3 + 3 or 4 + 4. They had two interfaces per speaker (one for every 3 or 4 electrostatic elements). The best way to drive them was with two big stereo amps.
The nominal impedance would be 6 ohms. You could bridge the interfaces but the impedance would go down to 3 ohms nominal. Then you could drive them with one very big stereo amp (the only one high end in those days was probably a Mark Levinson ML3) or two monaural amps. The Acoustat model 8 has been reviewed in The Absolute Sound by John Nork in issue 27.
